Visitor Visa

The easiest way to enter Canada is to obtain a visitor visa. This can be done in the following ways:

  • on a tourist tour (especially for people with extensive travel experience);
  • by invitation from relatives or friends;
  • by invitation from a company in Canada or on a business tour;
  • to attend seminars, conferences and exhibitions;
  • as a student for short-term language courses (up to six months) for those
  • who wants to improve their level of English;
  • as an accompanying child to summer or winter camps.

A visitor visa is issued by the Canadian Embassy in the country where the applicant resides or has citizenship. This decision is based on a number of specific factors: your financial situation, your employment in the country where you live, how confident the immigration officer is that you will return home and not stay in the country illegally.

Choosing the right strategy and submitting documents correctly increase your chances of getting a visitor visa approved.

According to our statistics, 8 out of 10 clients received a visitor visa and visited Canada without any problems.

If you are denied a visitor visa, we will file an appeal using CAIPS, which will help review your file and see the immigration officer's comments on why you were denied, as well as identify weaknesses in the application and take steps to correct them.

There are many ways for travelers to stay in Canada legally. This could be attending a language course, going to college or university, finding an employer, getting refugee protection.

Work permit in Canada

A work permit is a document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Basically, it allows you to work only for the employer listed on your application and do a specific job. A work permit is also limited to a certain place and time of work. In rare cases, this may be
open work permit.

Already when submitting an application, it is important to understand what category your future work belongs to, what are the qualification requirements, so that the Ministry makes a positive decision.

Ordinary work permit (for a specific employer)

To obtain such a document, you will need:

  1. Get a job offer from a Canadian employer.
  2. The employer must apply and go through the LMIA application.
  3. The applicant must meet a number of criteria: no criminal record, no threat to national security, no work for unacceptable employers, be healthy and willing to leave Canada when the permit expires.

Open work permit

The right to obtain an open work permit is for people who have applied for permanent residence or an application for permanent residence on humanitarian and charitable grounds. In this case, the application must fall into one of the following categories:

  • federal skilled worker;
  • Canadian experimental class;
  • provincial nominee program;
  • federal program of skilled trades;
  • family class;
  • childcare class;
  • caring for people with advanced medical needs.

With this permission, employment opportunities are not limited to a specific employer and you will be able to work anywhere, as long as the company is not listed as illegal (is on the list of employers that have not met the conditions).

Exceptions

There are professions that do not require a work permit:

  • foreign representatives and members of their families;
  • military personnel;
  • foreign government officials;
  • work on campus;
  • artists;
  • athletes;
  • journalists and media teams;
  • public speakers;
  • organizers of congresses and conferences (with the exception of technical workers and staff);
  • representatives of the clergy;
  • judges, referees and other specialists in the field of sports and art;
  • examiners and evaluators;
  • expert witnesses or investigators;
  • health students;
  • civil aviation inspectors;
  • crew members;
  • emergency service providers;
  • farm workers.

You may encounter some difficulties during the process of applying for a work permit. In particular, getting a job offer from a Canadian employer is a difficult task, as not every employer is willing to spend time waiting and applying to the LMIA (this requires additional time, work and paperwork).

This is just one of the reasons why working with our company Green Light Canada is beneficial for both foreign workers and companies that want to benefit from foreign workers. We are not only an immigration consulting company, but also act as an employment agency - we help to establish
contacts between employers and potential employees, we optimize the process and facilitate the process of processing the necessary documents.
